Urban Mutations #1

I’m fascinated by the (non)functional mutations that happen all over the city. I wonder what prompted the architect to include an exposed moment of respite from what is likely to be vertical warehouses within, or whether these exits once connected to a stair. It’s like someone generatively removed components from a Piranesi drawing. Citizens become prisoners to an eleveated edge condition, connected only by a brick corner and two exits to nowhere. #piranesi #NYC #architecture #metropolis #brick
